Upcoming activities in the next year is, naturally training of teachers. The schools in each resrouce center have been divided into clusters of five to eight schools in order to facilitate participation and sharing. The clusters, by nature have to be accessible to each other in order for teachers to get together on a regular basis. There are several upcoming activities, most of them are, of course, training.
- Short Term Training for Primary Teachers (STTPT) comprises of three major components. The first component is a three-week face to face training. Here the teachers will receive hands-on training focusing on enhancing their facility in the use of their curriculum and text books in a child-centered manner. The second component is a four month practice-teaching period. The teachers will start using the skills they have gained in the training, and they will be supported in this by the Field Officers as well a the DEO staff members. All the Primary School Teachers in Dailekh will receive this trainig. They will receive their certificates at the end of five momts they come for the last face to face phase of refelction and review of their work.
- Youth-to-Youth-to-Child Training. This training, to be administered to five youth from each school community: 452 schools x 5 youth = 2260 youth. Over 2200 youth will be given a three day training in order to be able to work in the schools with specific children in specific grades from 1 -5. There is another major component to this project, and that is these young people will experience working in a serious environment, and helping children become good and pro-active. We expect that they will in turn become positive and responsible individuals.
- Skill Development Training for Primary Tachers (SDTPT) comprises again of three components. The first is a two month face-to-face component in Lalitpur. The second will be a seven month practice teaching package where they will implement what they have learnt in the schools, and finally a one week face-to-face program and certificaiton at the District Educaiton Office. This training will be provided to one teacher per school, and it is hoped that we will be able to develop subject-specifice experts in each of the clusters.
- Facilitation and development of Child Clubs. Child clubs are established in each school so that students are able to participate on a regular basis. These clubs deal with providing them with skills and opportunities to enhance their curricular, extra-curricular activities, as well as in developing specific hobbies.
- Parenting work-shops. Preparing Parent Leaders who in turn will train other parents on parenting issues.
- Working in close collaboration with the Village Development Committees.
