Youth-to-Youth-to-Child Program
A unique addition to the Dailekh Schol Project venture.
The Dailekh School Project is a partnership between Rato Bangala and the Ministry of Education to improve the quality of educaiton of all the schools in the district in an organized manner in the next five years. It has been identified, that, in order to improve the quality of education in the classrooms, training is a major component. The Dailekh School Project therefore puts training of school leaders, of parents and of teachers in the forefront. No doubt the most intensive training is for teachers. Starting in November, and ending in January, there will be extensive trainig of teachers. When teachers are taken out of school for an extensive period of three weeks, the students would be left without supervision.
In order to help students who will be without a teacher for three weeks during the teacher training session, the DSP has decided to launch this unique program called Youth-toYouth-to-Child.
Experienced teacher trainers of the Rato Bangala Foundation will train 15 graduates of Rato Bangala School who will later go to Dailekh for 6 weeks and train a total of 2260 youths and prepare them to conduct classes. The youths who will be trained will be selected from the neighborhood of each of the 452 schools in Dailekh: approximately five youths for each school. 250 youths will attend a session of 3 days and so in total, there will be 9 such sessions. The training will take place in the headquarters of Dailekh. The RBS students will then visit the schools in order to supervise and suppour them. The youths in Dailekh will receive a certificate for their participation in the Youth to Youth to Child project.
There are several beneficiaries to this program. The first and primary beneficiary is the over 65000 primary aged students of every school in Dailekh. They will experience being taught by young people other than their teachers, they will realize the value of community service and will look at these young people as role models they can aspire to. The second beneficiaries are the youth who get the training to teach. During the three days of the training, they get to interact with young people from Kathandu and learn from them, they get provided with teaching ideas and material to conduct classrooms for three entire week. They get to be known in their district as youth who care about their community and who are taking a positive and pro-active role. They experience teaching for three whole weeks, and realize the benefits and risks of being a teacher. They become a positive youth force for the district that can be used for many development purposes. Last, but not least, the Rato Bangala graduates who get involved in this project are also serious beneficiaries. They get experience in working on a project they have helped design. They get trained to become trainers, and they work hard for a whole six weeks in Dailekh, a district where many of their young colleagues will not have visited at all. This experience will be cherished by them for the rest of their lives, and they would have understood the value of giving very early in their lives.
In addition to doing the job of teaching, the youth of Dailkeh will be responsible for the Fundraising program to buy books for schools around Dailekh. This fundraising drive will be based on reducing social ills. "Ek khili churot, ek peg raksi ko paisa Dailekh School Proejct ma". This fundraising venture will help people think before they smoke or drink. The Dailekh School Project is totally resoruce hungry, and it is the intention that everyone in Dailekh feels that they have particiapted towards the strength of this proejct.
